We think Al Ladino is close to heaven on earth - our family and friends who have stayed there agree!

Set in mature gardens in a stunning setting of natural beauty, Al Ladino is a rustic-style Casita (small house) just one kilometre from the sea and some 3 kilometres from Nerja.

Sitting on a hillside of unspoilt countryside amidst olive and pine trees, the house looking down on the town and surrounding mountains, countryside and coastline.

This property is ideal if you want to be in a quiet setting enjoying pure tranquility 'a romantic setting' while at the same time being just 10 minutes by car from either Nerja or the typically spanish mountain village of Torrox.

view from villa rental Our home in Andalucia is 2 miles west of the small town of Nerja, some 45 minutes drive east of Malaga airport.

We chose the location for its combination of tranquility of unspoilt countryside with breathtaking views of the mountains, and birds eye views of the beaches and town below us.

The property is a little elevated, a third of a way up a hillside. Apart from being a haven of natural beauty where the air is fresh and the birds sing, it's also not too remote.

By car, we can be in the local town or at one of our favoured restaurants in the countryside or on the beach in as little as 10 minutes.

We and our friends liked it so much, that we thought others would too.

That's why we decided to make available for letting the second property which sits on our 'estate' a charming terracotta roofed 'casa del campo' called Al Ladino.

We hope you enjoy staying at Al Ladino.

Inside the house

A spacious 'rustic style' lounge and dining room with a wood burning stove.

This main room leads through into a traditional farmhouse style kitchen which contains a fridge, gas hob and small electric oven and washing machine (with optional microwave).

The lounge and dining area includes built in seating, a dining table & chairs and traditional furniture. Where possible the property has been improved using restored antique wood to preserve the natural character and be environmentally-friendly.

There are two bedrooms, a shower room with double sinks and WC. There is also a separate small washroom containing basin and WC.

Bedroom no1 is a twin bedded double room enjoying views over the pool and patio and spectacular countryside which includes the mountains and other panoramic views.

Bedroom no 2 is again a double-sized room accessed directly from the patio. It has its own breathtaking views.

The patio doors from the lounge area open onto the terrace where you'll find a sun bathing area, swimming pool (5 m x 3.5m with shallow end of 0.9m) with outdoor shower and a barbeque facilities.

From the patio there are panoramic views of the mountains, the sea and the town of Nerja.

The property is well maintained and will suit a couple or up to four friends who want to relax in a tranquil rural setting while at the same time being close to the facilities of Nerja, 10 minutes away by car.

The gardens with many mature shrubs and trees are well cared for by a highly respected local gardener There is outdoor lighting to the patio, including concealed illumination in the garden shrubs which makes for a perfect evening sitting out especially during the warmer months.

AL Ladino, while situated on the same estate as our neighbouring property, Monte Bajo, has its own entrance and is completely separated from the other house for maximum privacy.

Life around Al Ladino

It's a hillside to the West of Nerja.

You follow the road from the coast, past the white village, up a twisting road, past some construction work, round a few additional twisting bends and eventually up a dirt track to the peace and quiet of 'Al Ladino'.

You'll probably meet the neighbours along the way: a collection of Spanish people getting on with their lives, along with some northern Europeans.

The nearest neighbour is about 300 metres away - Antonio, a Spanish dentist. You may see Raphael, a small stout man who rides a modest moped past the house to his little orchard every day - he comes to water the avocado trees and ensure his home made produce is flourishing.

And that's about it, very little noise to speak of unless there's a fiesta in the town, in which case you'll see the night sky light up with fireworks!

Oh yes, don't be surprised to see the gardener visit on a Wednesday and a Saturday morning. Joaquin, well known in the local area, learned his craft working on municipal gardens and now takes pride in looking after Al Ladino and our own home, Monte Bajo.

Towels and bed linen are supplied, but please bring your own towels for the beach and the pool.

RENTING A VEHICLE

You'll need a hire car as the property is 5 minutes up a hillside which only the very fit or energetic would be happy to walk up and down every day. We can advise on car hire if you wish.

Bookings are Saturday to Saturday. We'll ask you for a 50% deposit to secure your reservation. The balance is payable 8 weeks prior to departure. At that time, a returnable 'breakages deposit' of �200 will be required.
