Puerto Rico is home to this privately owned rental apartment in the Portonovo Complex. Only a few minutes walk to the Marina & Beach. Yours to rent, this recently refurbished one bedroom apartment (suitable for two persons only) has been finished to a high standard for our guest's comfort and enjoyment.

Portonovo Apartments next to Marina & Beach
Puerto Rico is situated on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. The coastline is open to the Atlantic Ocean, but Puerto Rico itself lies sheltered and cosseted in its own protective valley shelving down to the sea. Puerto Rico generally enjoys consistent hours of sunshine and warmth, in fact, nearly always quite a few degrees warmer than Las Palmas. It also has the added bonus of very few midges and mosquitoes.

PRIVATE RENTAL APARTMENT (NOT a Time-share)

Our apartment in Portonovo is on the second floor, in the centre of the complex directly overlooking the main Marina. There is lift access to both ends of the complex. It is one of the most sought after locations in Gran Canaria.

The lounge and bedroom enjoy views over the Marina and out to sea. The apartment has recently been refurbished throughout to a very high standard. The quality and attention to detail reflects the owners care of the apartment and for your enjoyment & comfort as their guests.

The Bedroom

Suitable for two persons only, the bedroom of this apartment comprises:

Two twin beds with bedside reading lights
Two wardrobes providing amply storage space, one having external full length mirrors,
A dressing table with mirror above

Trouser Press
Mini Ironing Board & Iron

The Bathroom

Tastefully refurbished, it is well lit and includes a small outside window. It comprises:

A walk in shower with a large fixed shower head as well as a hand-held adjustable one.
The shower also has an integral seating area
A Vanity Unit/Wash basin & toilet

The Lounge

This a comfortable space enjoys a panoramic view as a result of fully opening concertina patio doors and subtle lighting on an evening. You will also find:

Flat screen T.V.
DVD player
Micro CD Hi Fi System with tape & FM/AM radio
Free standing oscillating fan

The Kitchen

The apartment's kitchen leads off the lounge area and is finished to a very high standard and comprises:

A four ring ceramic hob & extractor
A full size fan assisted oven
A large fridge with freezer compartment
Sink with separate drainer
Plenty of kitchenware & utensils for your convenience
Kettle
Toaster

The south facing balcony, (overlooking the Marina & Heated pool) is large enough to comfortably fit two sunloungers together with table and chairs and there is a full-length sunblind for shade, if required, when the sun is lower in the sky. There is also a space-saving clothes airer fixed to the wall.

LARGE HEATED SWIMMING POOL

Relax by the side of our large communal heated pool, which is just to the left, directly below our apartment and is a delight for swimmers as well as leisurely bathing. There is also a poolside bar & restaurant.

The white sandy beach, just a few minutes away from our apartment is manicured daily. Bathing in the sea is both safe and relatively warm all the year round. Within the Marina, which houses a large variety of craft, boats can be chartered for sailing or to enjoy a day's fishing for Marlin or maybe Swordfish in the deep sea off Puerto Rico, where many game fish abound. You can also go on dolphin and whale spotting trips throughout most of the year. If you fancy an adrenalin kick, how about a blast on a jet boat or parasailing?! You will also find schools for sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and scuba diving. There is also a large secondary beach (Playa de Amadores) that can be reached by a pleasant 20 minutes' walk along the sea wall footpath with many welcoming bars & excellent restaurants at the other end! In our apartment you will also find beach mats & beach umbrellas for your use.

Only a short distance away there are facilities for tennis, squash, golf and horse riding. There is also camel riding on the world famous huge sand dunes a few miles along the coast.

If you are searching for cool solitude, hire a car and drive up into the hills. The journey inland brings a dramatic and beautiful change of scenery with mountainous views, pine forests and many small enchanting villages. Fruit crops abound, so enjoy your pick of fresh bananas, lemons, grapes, oranges, tomatoes and avocados, and don't forget the local wines…..both good and inexpensive! Wherever you go there are many wayside bars and restaurants offering a wide variety of locally produced meals.

There is also an exceptionally generous choice of bars, cafes and restaurants in close proximity of our apartment and many more at the Commercial Centre, some 15 to 20 minutes' walk. There, if you like to be entertained, the centre is bubbling with nightlife suitable for all ages.

Although Puerto Rico is a busy place, there are many restrictions at night on noise. The Marina area, in particular, is subject to a controlled environment so that sleeping hours are not disturbed by clubs and loud music.

Rental rate:

First Week £335, subsequent weeks £320 per week (inclusive of two persons, laundry & cleaning services). Larger discounts available for longer letting periods.

Unfortunately, we regret we are only marketing our apartment to the over 40's, since experience has shown, to our cost, that it is the more mature in age person who tends to look after our Apartment more like their own and so enjoys the idea of a 'Home in the Sun' rather than just a place to sleep on holiday.

Most of our friends and guests visiting Puerto Rico want to return again and again, and for this reason early booking of our apartment is essential particularly for the peak season between October & April.

There is very little sand at all on Tenerife: it is a volcanic island and is mostly volcanic ash or cinders along the coastal path with outcrops of rocks or pebbles going down to the sea (for instance Pebble Beach . . . ). Having said that many people sunbathe on the rocks and children often play on the pebbles though sandy it is not -- sand has to be imported from the Sarah desert to make beaches on Tenerife!! Los Gigantes is one of those places . . .
