The Boavista 18 hole Championship Golf course is 6,053m long course, set on uplands just to the west of Lagos and affords excellent views of the Algarvian coastline to the South, and of the Monchique mountain range to the North.
Surrounded by natural woodland, rich in flora and fauna, the memorable par-3 sixth hole, set over a plunging fissure, is probably the most notorious on a thoroughly satisfying and scientifically outstanding course.
There is a 25% discount on green fees and a 10% reduction on other facilities when using the resort, including the club-house restaurant. For the golfer, facilities include a driving range, golf academy, club & buggy hire, putting green and practice bunkers. Also there are many other courses, offering a tough challenge, within an hour's drive.
BOAVISTA RENTAL APARTMENT
Our 1st floor rental apartment is on the new Lakeview Village development. It overlooks the 17th fairway/green from one balcony and the privated heated swimming pool from the other balcony. The comfortable living area has a satellite TV with a DVD player and a CD hi-fi.
Patio doors open onto both balconies.
The fitted kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, microwave, cooker and fridge freezer. The appartment also has an iron and hairdryer.
ACCOMMODATION - Sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms
The apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms accommodating four people. Maid service and linen/towels are also provided. Pets are not allowed and there is a non-smoking policy. Being first floor, the apartment is not suitable for wheelchair access.
A guide to restaurants, shops, supermarkets, is provided in the apartment along with emergency contact numbers for doctors etc. A 24-hour number is also provided in case of emergencies.

TOURIST INFORMATION - WESTERN ALGARVE

culture, good food, excellent accommodation, plenty of attractions and
entertainment. These are the ingredients that combine to make the
perfect holiday destination and you will find them all in the Western Algarve,
one of the last areas in southern Europe to remain unspoilt by
over-commercialisation.
Beaches
From the tranquillity of its sheltered southern bays and harbours to the
rugged splendour of the wilder shores pounded by the Atlantic surf on the
west coast, this is like no other part of Portugal.
Basking in more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, the region boasts
unrivalled opportunities for holidays, which can be as active or relaxing
as you wish. The Western Algarve consists of thousands of acres of National
Park, which explains the very little development. This results in
outstanding scenery, stunning beaches and small, unspoilt resorts.
The closest beach is Praia da Luz, which is well suited for families wishing to take advantage of the cafes, restaurants and water sports. The beach at Dona Ana in Lagos is also a popular family beach. If, however, more secluded coves with breathtaking scenery and quaint seaside tavernas are what you are after, then the beaches at Salema, Burgau and Zavial are sure to impress.
Golf Courses
If you prefer to have a change of course, there are four other golf courses all within a 15km radius of Boavista. Palmeras is at Meia Praia just East of Lagos, Alto Golf is close to Portimao, Penina is also a championship course to the east and Parque da Floresta is a short drive west towards Cape Saint Vincent.
For The Sports Enthusiast
If sporting pursuits are your thing then you will certainly not be short of things to do. Water Ski-ing, Scuba Diving, Mountain Biking and Deep Sea Fishing are just a few of the activities available.
Keeping the Kids entertained
For families and non-golfers alternative resort activities include tennis facilities and a children's play area. The beautiful beaches of Praia da Luz and Praia D Ana are in close proximity along with stunning coastal and mountain walks. There are lots of activities for children of all ages nearby, which include Pony Trecks (picnics available) water sports at Luz, Surf School, and also Tennis and Football Camps. The 'Slide & Splash' water park is only a 20 min drive from Lagos near the town of Lagoa (operators of theme parks in Portugal are subject to strict safety standards and regulations)
Some Places to visit
The vibrant town of Lagos is a few minutes drive away and an ideal spot to visit with its shops and cafe bars. Rich in culture, you can experience the local ambience of the old town with its winding cobbled streets contrasting with the modern marina. Both offer a wonderful choice of restaurants in a relaxing atmosphere.
If you are craving for some retail therapy (whilst the men are on the course!) then Portimao is the second biggest commercial town after Faro. Head for Ruo do Comercio. There is also a huge market here on the first Monday in every month. The West Coast of the Algarve is spectacularly beautiful and relatively undeveloped. The trappings of Tourism are minimal but the draw is the vast uncrowded beaches and breathtaking cliff scenery. Inland is the mountain village of Monchique and is a particularly pleasant drive. On the way stop, at the village of Caldas de Monchique which has been a Spa for at least 2,000 years.
Supermarkets
There are 3 large supermarkets within minute's drive of Boavista, which are all easily located. There is also a supermarket in Luz village – 'Baptistas', which will deliver large orders if required. For the real taste of Portugal visit the fish and vegetable market in Lagos which is open daily until 1pm. Most supermarkets close at 2pm on Sundays, however if you head West on the road to Burgau, just past the camp site is a supermarket 'Ecomarche', which is open until 8pm.
Restaurants
The are lots of fantastic restaurants in and around Lagos to cater for many different tastes varying from traditional Portuguese, seafood, Italian, Swiss, Indian and Chinese. The best seafood restaurants are usually found close to local beaches where the fresh fish selections and ambience are both second to none. The local sardines are a must!
Swimming Pool
The pool area, which included a children's pool, has separate bathroom facilities and is only accessible by electronic swipe cards. The card is only active for the duration of your stay and must be returned on departure. This card must ONLY be used by guests staying in the apartment.

Car Hire
Car hire is available at the airport but it is advisable to pre-book before arrival as it is cheaper to book via a UK agent. We will be pleased to advise on the best companies or arrange your car hire at very competitive prices and without the insurance excesses that often catch people out.
Taxis
Taxis are readily available at the airport. Always ask for a price before embarking on the journey. A list of local taxi numbers is also available in the apartment guide.
